Concept
Rich tapestries are woven when civilizations connect to share cultural traditions and experiences. The fusion of diverse cultures is not unlike the exchanging of gifts; gifts of art, food, and music enrich our two countries. Historically human experience has reached its greatest heights when connectivity has linked groups and an open exchange of ideas occurred.
Artist's Statement
Historically, civilizations have reached their greatest heights when connectivity linked countries, encouraging the open exchange of ideas. Rich tapestries are woven when civilizations share cultural traditions.
In the triptych “Plus Ultra” (Go Beyond), I explore the problematic question: love of homeland versus patriotic nationalism with its isolating repercussions.
The blending of diverse cultures is an exchange of gifts. Muro Compartido, recognizes the gifts of art, food, fashion, music and religion while acknowledging the important migration paths and wildlife corridors which link our shared fragile desert ecosystems.

Obras a exhibir:
-
Plus Ultra (Tríptico)
-
“Howsam’s paintings are joyous, exuberant, and intuitive, brimming with texture and energy, inspired by the natural beauty of the Colorado landscape.”
