PUENTES NO MUROS - BRIDGES NOT WALLS

La Exposición:

En un mundo cada vez más hostil, un grupo de artistas norteamericanas y mexicanas se unen para construir puentes.  Cada una trabajando en distintos medios y técnicas artísticas, exploran ideas de conectividad, y examinan los puentes  espirituales, culturales y emocionales que empoderan a la humanidad superando barreras políticas y sociales. La única manera de descubrir nuevos mundos y enriquecer nuestras vidas es cruzando puentes.

Objetivo:  

El arte no conoce fronteras y los lazos de amistad no conocen muros que los dividan.  Un grupo de artistas, además amigas, unen sus voces en contra de la atmósfera política y su retórica provocadora que únicamente contribuye a mayor división. Este grupo establece puentes generacionales y culturales de unión y enorme respeto a la diversidad. Con profunda convicción que la amalgama cultural beneficia a las naciones, es bien comprobado que el arte alimenta a los seres humanos, amplía sus horizontes y los vincula.

Respecto a las artistas:

Las amistades no reconocen tiempos ni fronteras.  Todas las artistas participantes tienen historias que contar y vínculos afectivos que las unen con ambos países. Lo singular de San Miguel Allende es este común denominador: un lugar donde sus caminos se entrecruzan, donde viven, trabajan o visitan frecuentemente.

El tema:

La temática que las artistas exploran incluye la conectividad espiritual entre la muerte y el rejuvenecimiento, el vínculo emotivo con las familias de los migrantes, las riquezas que aporta la cultura compartida y la conectividad física de las mujeres y su cuerpo.

The Exhibit

In an increasingly hostile world, a group of American and Mexican women artists come together to construct cultural bridges. Each working in a different medium, they explore ideas of connectivity. They examine the spiritual, cultural and emotional bridges that empower humanity and transcend civil disruption and political roadblocks. It is only by crossing bridges that we discover new worlds and enrich our lives.

Objective

Art knows no borders and friendships scale walls. A group of women friends and artists join to speak out against the current political atmosphere of divisiveness and hateful rhetoric. They bridge generations as well as cultures, embracing inclusivity and mutual respect. They believe that cultural commingling benefits countries and that art can nurture, broaden viewpoints and unite.

About the Artists

Friendships are fluid and know no borders. All of the participating artists have stories to tell and emotional ties to both countries. However, San Miguel de Allende is the one common denominator, the one place where all their paths intersect, whether they live and work there or visit frequently.

Themes

Themes the artists will explore include: spiritual connectivity of death and rejuvenation, familial, emotional connectivity of migrant families, the riches of shared cultural connectivity, and the physical connectivity of women and their bodies.
